Celebrating Youth Creativity in Margate
As 2024 draws to a close, we’re filled with pride reflecting on the success of The Teenage Market this year — and nothing captures that better than the incredible Christmas Teenage Market in Margate, which was a true celebration of youth creativity, community spirit, and entrepreneurial energy. 🎄✨
Held as part of The Mayor’s Big Christmas in Margate, the event created a magical atmosphere in the town, bringing together 47 young entrepreneurs aged 7 to 23 and 9 talented young performers who filled the high street with festive cheer. From creative crafts to innovative handmade products, the quality, variety, and professionalism on display were truly inspiring.

• 47 young entrepreneurs took part
• 9 young performers entertained the crowds
• Over £5,000 in collective sales recorded
• Local businesses reported increased footfall and engagement
🏆 Success Stories:
• Harrison’s 3D Prints (Aged 12) – Harrison achieved an incredible £557 in sales, using his earnings to fund his esports ambitions and international travel. His story reflects the power of entrepreneurial learning and determination.
• BobaEllie’s Crochet Creations (Aged 11) – Ellie’s confidence blossomed throughout the experience, turning a hesitant start into a thriving creative business that inspired others.
• Rumple + Teazer (Aged 11 and 13) – This sibling duo embraced teamwork and entrepreneurship, learning valuable business skills and discovering a passion for making and selling.
Beyond the young traders and performers, the market had a positive ripple effect across the town. Local businesses such as Curve Coffee Shop enjoyed increased footfall and new customers, while partnerships with EKC Group, McDonald’s, and national retailers helped make the event a truly collaborative celebration of community.

The success of the Teenage Markets in Margate this year has shown the incredible potential of young people when given the opportunity to shine. We’re delighted that Thanet District Council are now actively exploring ways to continue empowering young people in the area — helping them build confidence, develop new skills, and turn their ideas into enterprise.
