Warwickshire County Council Partners with Place For Youth
Place For Youth CIC is proud to be working in partnership with Warwickshire County Council to roll out Teenage Market events across Warwickshire — creating new opportunities for young people to showcase their creativity, build confidence and gain real-world entrepreneurial experience.
The first Teenage Market delivered under this new partnership will take place in Nuneaton on Sunday 22nd March from 10am - 4pm, co-hosted by All Communities Matter CIC as part of its popular Indie Market series. The event is also supported by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Nuneaton BID, demonstrating a powerful partnership approach to investing in young people and town centres.
There has already been a strong, positive response from local young people to the opportunity, with a number of applications to take part already received – and more young people are being encouraged to sign-up to get involved, which they can do at https://theteenagemarket.co.uk/.
A County-Wide Opportunity
Warwickshire County Council’s support reflects a shared belief that young people should be at the heart of vibrant, thriving town centres which mirrors our own commitment to supporting young people to turn the places they live, into places they love.
The county-wide approach follows a successful pilot of the initiative in North Warwickshire - where the events have provided free, low-risk opportunities for young traders and performers to test ideas, earn money, and grow in confidence. This will ensure that more young people across the county can access meaningful opportunities to develop their creative talents.
Other towns and community organisations across Warwickshire are now invited to host their own Teenage Markets, helping to extend this impact even further. Interested partners can get in touch by contacting towns@warwickshire.gov.uk
Putting Young People Centre Stage
Councillor Rob Howard, Portfolio Holder for Economy & Growth at Warwickshire County Council, highlighted the importance of giving young people real-world experience and helping to bring energy and creativity back into town centres.
He said, “It’s fantastic that we’re supporting, providing a great opportunity for our young people. I hope that local people will come out and support it. Teenage Markets are a brilliant way to give young people real-world experience and confidence. They help develop entrepreneurial skills while bringing energy and creativity to our town centres. We’re excited to be able to support any places in Warwickshire that would like to take this opportunity."
Councillor Nicky King, Portfolio Holder for Business and Regeneration at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said “It’s brilliant that Nuneaton town centre will be filled with such enthusiasm, activity, and creativity by the young people involved. This market gives youngsters a platform to showcase their skills, ideas, and entrepreneurial spirit. Supporting opportunities like this is vital for our community, as well as bringing footfall to Nuneaton town centre.”
A Shared Commitment to Young People
This partnership with Warwickshire County Council represents exactly the kind of strategic, place-based collaboration that enables Place For Youth to scale meaningful opportunities for young people — combining local leadership with youth-led creativity. It helps to:
Encourage entrepreneurial thinking
Develop practical business skills
Create accessible opportunities regardless of background
Increase town centre footfall and vibrancy
Build confidence and self-belief
By working collaboratively with county and borough councils, BIDs and community organisations, we are demonstrating how youth-led placemaking can strengthen local economies while directly benefiting young people.
Any young person who is interested in taking part can sign-up at https://theteenagemarket.co.uk/
